IMGs from Barbados for USMLE and Residency

Bajan IMGs come from two medical schools on the island namely the American University of Barbados School of Medicine and the University of the West Indies, Barbados Faculty of Medical Sciences.


Barbadian physicians take the USMLE and become ECFMG certified so they can apply to residency programs in the US. To increase the number of interviews they get and hence increase their chances of getting matched on the first attempt they will apply to these programs in different specialties: IMG Friendly.


Although Barbadian doctors do their clinical rotations in the US, however some of them don't match from the first season due to lack of application strategy and these will have to further do  more clinical rotations to make their profile more competitive in the following hospitals: Observerships.
